We’re back with another update on the Gas Enquiry Service (GES) platform migration following our August article. Here’s the latest on our progress towards implementing a more efficient and robust system.
June migration rollback
Despite thorough testing and monitoring, our initial attempt to migrate on 22nd June 2024 uncovered some unexpected data issues. As a result, we decided to revert both the GES Online Portal and the Supply Point Switching API to the legacy platform to maintain service stability.
Where we are now
We’re pleased to report that a revised implementation plan is now in place. This allows for additional testing, quality assurance, and data comparisons between the old and new platforms. We’ve been working closely with our partners, Xoserve and Correla, to ensure a reliable service. Our shared goal is to deliver a smooth transition to the new platform without affecting the user experience.
To help with this, we’ve been running the new platform alongside the current live system. This approach lets us track how the platform performs during peak periods, such as the monthly Annual Quantity (AQ) reconciliation. Ongoing iterative testing by subject matter experts and process owners is also helping us fine-tune the new system.
What’s next?
We’re targeting a mid-October launch for the full transition. This timing gives us a chance to observe performance during additional AQ reconciliation activities happening in early October. After this, we’ll confirm and communicate the transition for all GES users to the new platform.
Important info for GES users
There’s no need to take any action. Your access routes, passwords, and user credentials will stay the same. We’ll keep you updated by emailing designated Master Access Users (MAUs) and posting a notification on the GES portal on the day of the switch.
If you experience any issues before or during the migration, please raise a ticket via the portal, and we’ll be happy to assist.
Thank you for your continued support!
