On March 12th, we hosted a webinar which discussed our plans to introduce an accreditation and audit framework to the Third-Party Intermediary (TPI) Code of Practice. This code was originally published in October 2023. After receiving feedback during the webinar, we have taken some time to review the questions and observations that were raised. Before we move forward with Change Proposal R0137, we want to ensure that we have fully considered all of the feedback, particularly regarding the suggestion to allow multiple accreditation routes.
Key areas of consideration
We are working to ensure that our proposal fully explains the option to use more than one accreditation route. We are also undertaking a review of the legal text and competition assessment. This ongoing work means that we now expect to make a submission to support our change proposal to the June Change Panel meeting.
How does the Change Process work?
The REC Change Process is the mechanism that enables the Retail Energy Code (REC) and its schedules, subsidiary documents and systems to change over time. This means that the REC can evolve to meet the changing requirements of the consumer and the industry. In our recent webinar, Caroline Freimuller joined us from the REC Code Manager to explain the Change Process and how it would be used to evolve the TPI Code of Practice. You can watch the recording here.
Next steps
- We expect to submit updates to the existing REC Change Proposal R0137 by the end of June.
- We will then commence the change process, ensuring that stakeholder engagement shapes the process.
- We will submit the final Change Proposal for authority approval (Ofgem) by this Autumn.
