This follows our submission for the licensing assessment, the second stage of the Code Manager Selection Process and confirms that Ofgem is satisfied that RECCo has met the criteria to operate as the enduring Code Manager for the Retail Energy Code (REC) under the new statutory licensing framework.
Ofgem has also published a similar notice of proposal for Elexon Limited, with both the REC and the Balancing and Settlement Code (BSC) forming the first phase of codes that will move to a licensed regime in 2026.
What’s next?
We will continue to engage with Ofgem, stakeholders, and other code bodies as we prepare for the transition to a licensed Code Manager regime in 2026.
We also note that Ofgem is minded to undertake further consultation on the detail of the Code Manager licence, providing additional opportunities for stakeholder input. We will continue to engage with stakeholders to ensure your views are reflected within RECCo submissions.
