Highlights from the REC Party Engagement Day

On 30 September 2025, we brought Retail Energy Code Party stakeholders together in London for a live event packed with fresh ideas, valuable insights, and conversations that matter.

What we covered

We shared updates on the major topics shaping the Retail Energy Code (REC) and created space for practical discussion and connection. Presentations explored:

  • Code Management Services: how we support REC Parties through our engagement channels, including our Operational Account Managers (OAMs), and an overview of change development from the Change & Release team
  • Code Reform & Licence: the changes on the horizon, their potential impact, and how stakeholders can help shape new ways of working as RECCo transitions to a REC Code Manager licensee
  • Consumer Consent Solution: the latest progress of the programme, timelines, and opportunities for REC Parties to get involved. We’ll continue to work closely with Ofgem, industry, and consumer organisations to refine its design and governance. We’re planning targeted events – webinars and a dedicated engagement day – to support inclusivity and readiness across all market participants. And we encourage everyone to get involved. In the meantime, keep an eye on our consumer consent updates via the REC Portal’s Consumer Consent Hub, and share your feedback with our Programme Team (consumerconsent@retailenergycode.co.uk). Your input is key to shaping the solution.

Drop-in surgeries

Afternoon drop-in surgeries on Energy Theft, Market-wide Half-Hourly Settlement, Consumer Consent, Tariff Interoperability, REC Change, and our Forward Work Plan for 2026-29 gave stakeholders the chance to put their questions directly to our experts. OAMs provided one-to-one advice and support throughout the day, helping stakeholders connect the topics to their own priorities.

What we heard

  • The REC community enjoyed coming together for meaningful conversations that will carry forward into future work
  • Afternoon surgeries and one-to-one sessions with OAMs gave stakeholders a great opportunity to access expert insight
  • Open, two-way conversations produced real-time feedback that will strengthen our services and relationships
  • Stakeholders showed strong enthusiasm to engage with Code Reform & Licence changes and help shape new ways of working together

What’s next?

Thank you to everyone who joined and shared your perspective. Your insights will guide how we deliver services, evolve the code, and support the retail energy sector’s transition to net zero.
