Update on Gas Enquiry Service (GES) platform migration

On Saturday, the 22nd of June, 2024, work was undertaken to migrate the Gas Enquiry Service (GES) to a newer, more efficient, and robust platform. Despite rigorous testing and enhanced monitoring, issues were identified with a small number of data items. Consequently, the GES, including both the portal and supply point switching API services, was reverted to the existing platform on the 25th of June to ensure the quality of service for all GES users.

After analysing the issues, reverting to the existing platform minimised the impact on users, affecting only about 1.8 out of every 10,000 individual data items. Each request via the portal or API typically involves multiple data items, and considering the lower traffic volumes on the GES portal during this period, almost all customers were unaffected, and those who were impacted experienced minimal disruption.

We remain committed to ensuring the reliability and performance of the GES platform and will continue to work with our service provider, Xoserve in partnership with Correla, towards a seamless migration in the future. Thank you for your understanding and continued support.

Next steps

Although the likelihood of validation or processing errors is very low, if you encounter any issues with activities that occurred between the 22nd and the 25th of June, please raise a support ticket with Xoserve, here.

With the analysis completed, the team is focusing on resolving the identified issues and planning the reimplementation. We will provide further updates in the coming weeks.
