Ofgem is leading the transformational Switching Programme, that will support faster and more reliable switching for energy consumers, in turn promoting a competitive and innovative energy market. Ofgem, with the Data Communications Company as its key delivery partner, will deliver a new Central Switching Service to facilitate the new switching arrangements, with an expected go-live during Summer 2021.
The Retail Energy Code places transitional obligations on market participants to facilitate the effective and timely delivery of the Switching Programme. Nearer to the time of the Switching Programme go-live, it will govern the enduring operation of the new Central Switching Service.
