Retail Energy Code Company (RECCo) Board is delighted to announce the appointment of Sid Cox to the role of CEO. Sid is a finance-qualified commercial Director with extensive executive leadership experience in the UK energy market. His last major executive role was as a Board Director at EDF Energy Customers plc where he led the business customers business. There, he led transformational change to deliver value for customers and achieved this by working in close collaboration with customers, service providers, and other key stakeholders.

Sid has significant change management expertise encompassing end-to-end organisation, business integration, systems improvements, and customer service. He has a proven and practical experience of tendering, negotiating, and operating multi-vendor contracts, relevant for RECCo operations. He has also worked with stakeholders across the energy spectrum and has an excellent understanding of the needs of market participants who deliver valuable products and services to their customers.

Retail Energy Code Company operations provides a unique and challenging opportunity. The new, faster, and more reliable switching arrangements facilitated by the consolidation of the gas and electricity code arrangements as well as the introduction of the new switching system are the essential foundations for future change. They will serve as a platform for further efficiency, competition, innovation, and ultimately better value and service for residential and business customers.

We believe Sid has all the attributes needed to lead and develop the organisation in the critical period to REC ‘go-live’ on 1st September this year, and beyond in its enduring form.
